Titanic History: The Truth (Page 9)
What was Titanic? R.M.S (aka Royal Mail Steamer/Steamship) Titanic was an ocean liner that sailed from April 10th 1912 at Southampton, England to what was intended to be New York City, but sank on April 14/15th 1912. She was built by Harland and Wolff in Belfast, Northern Ireland and was intended to be part of a trio of sister ships for White Star Line. Fact #9: Inquieries As with pretty much any disaster, there's an inquiery to discovery what went wrong to prevent it in the future. In Titanic's case, there was a US and British inquiery, but they didn't really get to the proper conclusion. Not everyone was able to testify like the passengers that saw the ship break in two. Frederick Barett was able to testify and reported damage to the bulkhead that would later be hit by the berg. (I've already debunked this here.) Bruce Ismay was also able to testify, but his reputation was shattered as a whole. Generally, those that said it didn't break in two were accepted as fact. Stanley Lord of the S.S. Californian also testified and never faced any charges, but is partly blamed for the disaster by the general public for not even verifying what was seen that night from his vantage point or waking up his radio operator.
